University Meets Hüxstraße

From June 17 to August 18, the shops of Hüxstraße will host eleven (German language) seminars and lectures by professors and lecturers of Lübeck's university, the Universität zu Lübeck. The university lecturers want to offer interested citizens the opportunity to personally experience university teaching. While the newest research and science findings are regularly presented in Sunday lectures, during the Studium Generale, or at university dialogue events, it is rarely possible for guests to observe teaching lectures. This opportunity is presented with the Hüxstraße events. Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to participate in discussions, ask questions, and to receive further information about the university.

Galerie Koch-Westenhoff

In 1955, the Galerie's head branch was founded by Greifswald native Bruno Koch.
From 1969 on, the Galerie has had a branch in Lübeck, which has been at the present location, a 17th-century Baroque-style gabled house, since 1974. In the same year, Margot Koch-Westenhoff took over the Galerie from her father. In 2009, the Galerie's management was transferred to the next generation, headed jointly by Stefan Westenhoff and Meike Zimmer. The Galerie's program includes paintings, watercolors, graphics, and sculptures of the classical modernist style, as well as works created by a number of contemporary artists. The program is presented on the one hand in 3-4 individual exhibitions per year, and on the other hand by the participants at art conventions in Düsseldorf, Karlsruhe, and Munich.

Galerie ANSICHTSSACHE

Here for you at Hüxstrasse since 1988

In1988 we founded our poster gallery ANSICHTSSACHE in a small shop at Hüxstrasse 72.

After a 10-year stint at house number 52, we have now settled in Nr. 34. Over the course of time, our range of products has grown, while the technology we use to serve our customers' needs has become ever more refined.

Having begun with frameless picture holders and plastic picture frames in1988, today we offer all varieties, ranging from aluminum and wooden frames to gilded frames and conserving frames. In other words, we offer anything that will turn a picture into a small piece of artwork. To optimally conserve your picture, we can of course provide all types of picture glass

or acid-freemounts.

Our suppliers include renowned European manufacturers, such as Nielsen-Design, Spagl, Mittermeier, Ibis, Salvadori, Aicham, Larsen und Juhl, Roggenkamp, Schott Mirogard.

Do you simply want to have the rolled-up canvas you bought on your last vacation stretched onto a wooden frame? We can take care of that for you. We can also put digital prints on canvas, acryllic glass pictures, or prints on Aludibond. Whatever you want that has to do with wall decorations, you'll get it from us!

Our assortment of printed products has expanded from simple posters to etchings and originals created by well-known artists. For example, we have featured Ole West, Leslie G.Hunt, Günter Grass, Frank Damm, Helma Wolff, Michael Ferner, Sam Toft, Heinz Felbermair, Andreas Alba, Rita Marks, Joung Eun Ramaker, Matthias Heinz, Falko Behrendt, Ingrid Schmeck, Karl-Heinz Wissing, Susanne Börner, and many more.

If you bring us a picture to have framed, or want to purchase one at our shop, please be sure to plan some time for your visit. An extensive framing consultation. Can take up to one hour.

We can also give you virtual advice and consultations. Using a digital photo of the wall you wish to decorate, we will make design suggestions on the computer. This way, you can avoid purchasing a picture that might be too large, too small, or maybe the wrong shape. Would a landscape format look better, or two upright formats...or maybe even a triptych...?

In additional to offering professionally crafted and aesthetic framing, we also sponsor 2 exhibitions of interesting artists per year b>, usually combined with wine tasting and a book reading.

If you want to attend these events, just write us an email and we will add you to our mailing list, which will keep you up to date.
