The Hüxstraße Summer Street Party 2017

Come celebrate with us again on Saturday, July 8, 2017, from 12-6 p.m.

Neighbours, friends, and tourists are all looking forward to the traditional summer party in Lübeck‘s prettiest shopping street.

The street party will start at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 8. More than 90 Hüxstraße shops will have special booths, and attractions include everything from craftwork and street art to a wide range of gastronomic offers.

„Once a year, we want to celebrate with the entire community and friends of Hüxstraße, and thank our customers and guests for their loyalty,“ says the street community chairman.

Visitors will also be charmed by music in 2017, and invited to relax, or to actively listen and participate. We are again expecting thousands of guests to stroll along the street. Come by,  enjoy our special offers and meet up with friends and neighbors.

The formation „Kerygold“ - Including Florian, Bartosz, and Stefan.

The rough, soulful voice of lead singer Florian Künstler, with polyphonic vocals, plus guitar, contrabass, and violin, are what makes this Lübeck-based band so popular.

The „Combo tripartie“ - that is Erwan – guitar and vocals in French, Mimi – drums and vocals in German, and Philipp – Guitar and vocals in English.

As the name suggests, the program is made up of three parts: Next to classics from the Swing era and original compositions, you will hear a number of wine-soaked chansons from Erwan‘s native country.

The „Drunken Angels“ - Frank Högner and Tilo Strauß, offer a musical melange made up of Blues, Appalachian folk, Soul, and 70‘s Underground.

The trio „Mr. Finlay“ want to excite their guests with music in singer-songwriter style. We can‘t wait to see whether the golden retriever who gave the band its name will also come along.

„Jazz-It“ ...Imke Krüger provides the vocals and Mike Lindiger plays the piano.

Jazz, pop, original compositions, and ballads...The two musicians have acquired a widely varied repertoire with which to enchant their audience at the Hüxstrasse summer street party on their small, mobile, self-built stage.

Blues and Boogie im Duo … These two musicians have been playing together for three years, and keep finding interesting similarities in their musical tastes, despite their varying origins. Guy Weber, who has developed his own powerful musical style, was born in Berlin and gets his inspiration from his boogie-based musical role models, Albert Ammons and Pete Johnson. Martin Schmidt-Hahn is a native of Lübeck. As a student, he began playing in various Swing and Dixieland bands.

Especially for the Boogie pieces, the traditional combination of saxophone and piano is replaced by piano and clarinette, since Martin Schmidt-Hahn is also proficient in this instrument. The two musicians‘ creative talent in playing together and in solo improvisation offers an interesting palette of musical variations.
